The Origins of Modern Israel

During World War I and in its immediate aftermath, political maneuvering by Zionists created the British Mandate in Palestine - a political structure for the massive settlement and empowerment of a Jewish population in Palestine. In the aftermath of World War II, a violent Zionist revolution forced the British out, and enabled the Nakba - the dismemberment of Arab society in Palestine.
